The Lim Hoon Foundation is a private charitable trust created in August 2008 with the primary objective of promoting academic achievement for all students, at all levels, kindergarten through university with a focus on those from low income families. Our ultimate objective is to encourage the advancement of education through a wide range of philanthropic activities.

We strongly believe that everyone is entitled to a holistic education regardless of one's financial background. Equal opportunity access to education is the fundamental key to escape the vicious poverty cycle. It is our wish to help mould these disadvantaged students into leaders of the next generation as well as open new opportunities for them in the future.

We believe

To promote academic achievement for disadvantaged students with a primary focus on those from low income families and an ultimate objective of promoting the advancement of education.

MISSION STATEMENT

We believe we must act ethically in all dealings and that the interests of all our beneficiaries must be placed above all else.

PRINCIPLES
About Our Patron

The Foundation is named in memory of Lim Hoon, the late father of the Foundation's Chairman and founder Mr John Lim. Lim Hoon dedicated much of his adult life to the early development of Singapore's budding education system. He first served as a teacher of Tao Nan School in the early 1950's and retired in 1970.

Even after his retirement, his commitment to education continued through his guidance of his grandchildren. He emphasised the importance of a holistic education to his children in a time when it was more fashionable to enter the work force early. This dedication to the education system of Singapore was continued by his daughters, Helen and Janet, both of whom have also served Tao Nan School as educators for more than twenty years. Lim Hoon passed away in 2001, leaving the success of his six children as a hallmark of his legacy.

Guided by these life lessons, the Foundation was setup to bring this legacy one step further by offering students equal access to education when their circumstances deny them such opportunities.

We believe we must act ethically in all dealings and that the interest of all our beneficiaries must be placed above all else.
